UFC rankings: Prochazka cracks light heavyweight top two

UFC Vegas 25 is in the books, and a few potential new stars emerged after picking up nice wins. Three in particular – Jiri Prochazka, Sean Strickland. and Giga Chikadze – all took jumps in the rankings following their efforts in the Octagon. Prochazka’s spinning elbow KO of former title challenger Dominick Reyes puts him in the enviable position of probably getting the winner of Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira. And Chikadze’s 63-second destruction of Cub Swanson was almost as impressive. Here’s a look at the changes for this week. Men’s P4P – No changes. Heavyweight – No changes. Light Heavyweight – Prochazka is up three spots, settling into the two position behind the man that is getting the next title shot, Teixeira. Aleksandar Rakic drops one spot to three. Reyes falls two to five. Middleweight – Strickland is up four spots to 11. Chris Weidman is down one to 12. Omari Akhmedov falls two to 14. Brad Tavares is barely hanging on at 15. Welterweight – Michael Chiesa is up one spot to six, tied with Vicente Luque. Lightweight – No changes. Featherweight – Chikadze moves up four big spots to ten following his win over Swanson. Sodiq Yusuff, Bryce Mitchell, Edson Barboza, and Movsar Evloev are all down one to 11 through 14. Hakeen Dawodu enters at 15. Swanson is out. Bantamweight – Mareb Dvalishvili’s win saw him jump one spot to 11, bumping Jimmie Rivera to 12. Flyweight – No changes. Women’s P4P – No changes. Women’s Bantamweight – No changes. Women’s Flyweight – No changes. Women’s Strawweight – No changes.
